Roofing software buying checklist: inspection through production

Compare roofing software across lead intake, photos, measurements, proposals, production, payments and data portability.

FIELD VERDICT

Choose one reliable operating chain from lead to closeout. Extra features have little value when inspection evidence, proposal status or production handoffs still require duplicate entry.

01

Map the roofing operating chain

Draw the path from lead intake to inspection, measurement, estimate, contract, material order, crew schedule, progress documentation, invoice and warranty record. Name the system and person responsible at every transition.

Mark the current failure points: lost photos, slow proposals, inaccurate material orders, production surprises, unsigned changes or delayed collections. Rank them by financial and customer impact.

  • CRM and lead attribution
  • Inspection and measurements
  • Proposal and e-signature
  • Production, payments and warranty
02

Use one representative project

During trials, process a realistic roof with multiple slopes, accessories, optional work and a mid-project condition change. Use your templates, price rules, photos and users. Vendor-prepared demo data hides setup burden.

Time each handoff and count manual re-entry. Confirm the customer receives clear, branded documents and that internal cost or private notes are not exposed.

03

Test integrations as failure paths

Send an accepted proposal into production and accounting, then correct customer data and revise an approved item using the permitted workflow. Check which system owns the final value and how conflicts surface.

For measurement, supplier, financing or claim-related connections, confirm what data is transferred, who supports failures and whether fees depend on volume.

04

Protect the business at renewal and exit

Price the full year including users, storage, measurement orders, texting, implementation and premium modules. Ask how rates change and whether inactive seasonal users still cost money.

Export contacts, project history, contracts, photos and financial records before signing. Review permissions, backups and account removal. Your operating history should remain usable if the relationship ends.
